AHRQ recently highlighted an I-PASS study which was published by the Journal of Hospital Medicine. The study aimed to examine how handoff miscommunications, the leading source of medical errors, could be decreased across specialties with the implementation of the I-PASS handoff improvement program. Conducted across 32 community and academic hospitals, the study found that both major and minor hand-off-related reported adverse events decreased by 47% following implementation.
