Kentucky-based hospital becomes the latest in a wave of participants joining the movement to standardize patient handoffs across the state
BOSTON, Mass. –June 4, 2024 – I-PASS, the gold standard for reducing preventable medical errors through improved clinical communications during care transitions, today announced Harrison Memorial Hospital has joined the I-PASS Kentucky Hospital Association Transitions and Communication in Hospitals (KHATCH) Program.
Launched in November of 2023, the I-PASS KHATCH Program is an eight-year initiative enabling the Kentucky Hospital Association’s (KHA) member network to adopt the I-PASS bundle, which includes coaching, consultation, and a collection of digital solutions to increase the quality and reliability of verbal and written patient handoffs. Joining leading Kentucky healthcare institutions such as Baptist Health and Appalachian Regional Healthcare in this initiative, Harrison Memorial will implement I-PASS across its 61-bed hospital to advance the safety and quality of care for their patients.
“Whether you’re a large multi-center health system or a small freestanding hospital, the I-PASS KHATCH program is a highly effective solution designed to help institutions adopt standardized, reliable handoffs that are proven to reduce patient harm,” said Deborah Campbell, Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Transformation at Kentucky Hospital Association. “With a shared commitment to advancing patient safety and experiences, this partnership with Harrison Memorial Hospital is another major step forward on our path to adopt a universal language for care transitions across the commonwealth of Kentucky."
